Job description

Site Engineer – West of Scotland

Excellent opportunity for a Site Engineer to join an established civil engineering contractor with a strong reputation for investing in its people and developing long-term careers.

This is a company where engineers are given the support, training and responsibility to progress. With an excellent staff retention rate and a strong pipeline of work, it offers the stability of an established business alongside genuine opportunities to move into more senior engineering and site management positions.

The role will involve working across 2–3 live projects at any one time throughout the West of Scotland. All sites are within a reasonable commuting distance, so you can expect to be home every evening.

The Opportunity

You’ll gain exposure to a varied range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects while working closely with experienced Senior Engineers and Contracts Managers. From day one, you’ll be given responsibility on site while having access to hands-on guidance and structured development.

The company has a strong culture of promoting from within, with many of its people building their careers within the business.

Your Responsibilities

Carrying out setting out using Trimble equipment
Supporting the successful delivery of multiple live projects
Checking that works are constructed in accordance with drawings, specifications and design
Working closely with site teams, subcontractors and main contractors
Maintaining accurate site records, quality documentation and QA processes
Supporting the implementation and monitoring of health & safety requirements
Assisting with the day-to-day engineering requirements across your projects
What We’re Looking For

Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification
Previous experience working as a Site Engineer within civil engineering
Experience using Trimble or similar GPS/surveying equipment
Full UK driving licence
A proactive attitude and willingness to develop
Civil engineering experience from any sector will be considered. The company is particularly interested in engineers with the right attitude, ambition and desire to progress, rather than simply looking for experience within one specific discipline.

What You’ll Receive

Structured training and ongoing professional development
Direct mentoring from experienced Senior Engineers and Contracts Managers
Genuine opportunities for career progression and internal promotion
Long-term, secure workload across Scotland
Exposure to a broad range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects
A stable and supportive working environment with very low staff turnover
The opportunity to progress into Senior Engineer or Site Management positions
