Construction Quantity Surveyor
18-month contract
24 hours per week
£60 per hour - Inside IR35
Port Glasgow - Hybrid

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets and cost plans
  • Monitor project costs, risks and financial exposure
  • Prepare financial reports, forecasts and cost reports
  • Manage procurement and tendering activities
  • Prepare tender documentation, BoQs and pricing schedules
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier tenders
  • Administer NEC construction contracts
  • Manage variations, change orders and contractual claims
  • Prepare interim valuations and final accounts
  • Assess subcontractor applications and payment certificates
  • Identify commercial risks and support value engineering
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, subcontractors and consultants
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice to project teams

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction
  • Strong knowledge of UK construction practices
  • NEC contract experience
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness
  • Experience with cost management, procurement and contract administration
  • Experience managing variations, claims and final accounts
  • Strong numerical, analytical and negotiation skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related subject

DESIRABLE:

  • RICS, CIOB or similar professional membership
  • Experience working on large-scale construction or transformation projects
  • Strong NEC contract administration experience
  • Experience within complex engineering, manufacturing or infrastructure environments
