BMS Design Engineer

Location: City of London / London
Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum DOE
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
PAYE or Self-Employed options available

We are currently working with a leading BMS and smart buildings specialist who are looking for an experienced BMS Design Engineer to join their team, initially supporting a major live project in the City of London.

This is a great opportunity for a technically strong BMS Engineer who wants to develop beyond purely design or commissioning, with the opportunity to progress into a Project Engineer position and take greater ownership of projects from design through to delivery.

The Role

You will initially support the technical design and delivery of a live BMS project in Central London, before progressing into increased project responsibility on upcoming works.

Produce and develop BMS/EMS designs and technical documentation

Create points schedules, DBOs and control strategies

Design and specify control panels, valves, actuators and field devices

Develop BMS/EMS networks and system architecture

Coordinate with mechanical, electrical and other project disciplines

Support BMS software, graphics and systems integration

Assist with FAT, SAT, testing and commissioning activities

Provide technical support throughout installation and project delivery

Produce and maintain as-built documentation and O&M information

Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project teams

Support projects through commissioning, handover and completion

Progress towards taking ownership of BMS projects as a Project Engineer

Experience Required

Previous experience within BMS/BEMS design, project engineering or commissioning

Strong understanding of BMS controls and HVAC systems

Experience producing or working with points schedules, DBOs and control strategies

Good understanding of control panels and BMS field devices

Knowledge of BMS networks, system architecture and integration

Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings

Strong technical and problem-solving skills

Comfortable working closely with project, commissioning and site teams

Strong communication and client-facing skills

Experience with Tridium Niagara and/or Distech would be advantageous

Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, M-Bus, EMS or Smart Building technologies would also be beneficial

This is a great opportunity for an experienced BMS Design Engineer, Project Engineer or technically strong Commissioning Engineer looking to broaden their experience across the full BMS project lifecycle and progress towards full project ownership
