Trainee/Assistant Estimator

Trainee / Assistant Estimator Required in Essex

GVR Solutions are currently working alongside a well-established fit-out and refurbishment contractor who are looking for a Trainee / Assistant Estimator to join their growing team.

This opportunity will suit someone who has either recently graduated, or someone who has 1-2 years of relevant experience and is looking to pursue their career in Estimating.

Responsibilities of the Trainee / Assistant Estimator:

* Collation & review of tender documents to gain a solid project understanding

* Measurement of technical drawings using both CAD & traditional measurement methods

* Working amongst the wider team to obtain job specific market rates for materials

* Liaison with business partners and subcontractors to obtain site specific quotations

* Establishing new and building existing relationships with clients / contractors / suppliers

* Coordinate site visits with team members to understand project logistics / constraints

* Creation & preparation of bills of quantities / schedules of rates for submission to clients

* Presentation of tenders for adjudication with senior management team

* Attending meetings with clients to discuss projects / tenders & negotiate contract sums

The Trainee / Assistant Estimator must have/be:

* Have previous construction experience or have completed construction-based education

* Keen to develop skills (training will be offered if required)

* Self-motivated and driven to succeed

* Possess good time management skills and be comfortable working to deadlines

* Work well within a team, but also be happy working individually

* Comfortable using all Microsoft applications and have robust IT literacy

* Keen to learn how to be a great communicator

* Have experience with estimating software
