Job description

I'm currently working with a growing, employee-owned engineering consultancy that is looking to appoint a Civil or Structural Engineer to join its established team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with around 3-5 years' experience who wants to take on greater responsibility and gain exposure across the full project lifecycle. You'll be involved in everything from design and client engagement through to project delivery, commercial awareness, and team development.

The business operates across rail, transportation, civil infrastructure, energy and structural engineering sectors, offering a varied workload and genuine career progression opportunities.

The Role

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll be responsible for delivering engineering solutions from concept through to detailed design while working closely with clients, contractors and key stakeholders.
You'll have the opportunity to:

Undertake preliminary and detailed engineering design work
Produce technical drawings, specifications and engineering reports
Carry out analysis and assessments in accordance with relevant design standards
Work directly with clients and contractors throughout project delivery
Assist with fee proposals and tender submissions
Undertake site inspections and surveys as required
Manage project programmes, budgets and stakeholder communication
Collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams
Support and mentor graduate and junior engineers
Contribute to the continued growth and success of the business

What They're Looking For

I'm keen to speak with engineers who have:

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution
Typically 3-5 years' experience within a relevant engineering environment
Experience undertaking design and analysis using industry-standard software
A good understanding of current engineering standards and design codes
Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients and project teams
Ambition to progress towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status
The ability to manage workloads effectively and deliver work to agreed deadlines
A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of projects
Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation or similar software would be advantageous, as would previous experience within rail or infrastructure projects.
A full UK driving licence would also be beneficial due to occasional site visits.

Why Apply?

What I really like about this opportunity is the level of exposure available. This isn't a role where you'll be confined to technical delivery alone.
You'll have the chance to develop commercially, work closely with clients, assist in winning new projects and gain experience managing projects from inception through to completion. As the business continues to grow, there are genuine opportunities to take on greater responsibility and help shape the future direction of the team.
The company has built a strong reputation for delivering practical, cost-effective engineering solutions and, as an employee-owned business, every member of the team has a vested interest in its long-term success.
If you're looking for a role that offers strong technical projects alongside clear progression and wider business exposure, I'd be keen to discuss this opportunity further.
