Job description

Site Engineer (Civil / Structural)

Location: North Wales (On-site)

Contract Duration: 12-Month Initial Contract (Immediate Start - November 2026 to October 2027)

The Opportunity

We are acting on behalf of a leading Tier 1 infrastructure and engineering contractor to secure an experienced Site Engineer for a flagship, technically complex decommissioning project in North Wales.

This role offers the opportunity to join a high-calibre site delivery team operating in a heavily regulated, safety-critical environment. You will play a key technical role overseeing civil and structural packages on a landmark national asset over an initial 12-month programme.

Key Responsibilities

Setting Out & Dimensional Control: Execute accurate setting out, surveying, and level checks across civil, structural, and enabling works packages using modern total stations and GPS equipment.

Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure all works comply strictly with drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and rigorous safety-case guidelines.

Subcontractor Management: Supervise on-site specialist subcontractors, conducting daily briefings, monitoring progress against the programme, and verifying quality standards.

Technical Interface: Review engineering drawings, raise technical queries (RFIs), and work closely with senior engineering and project management teams to resolve buildability challenges.

Safety & Environment: Drive high standards of site safety, contributing to Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and maintaining accurate daily site diaries.

Candidate Profile

Experience: Proven track record working as a Site Engineer within major civil engineering, structural modifications, or regulated industrial/energy environments.

Technical Skills: Proficient with modern robotic total stations (Leica, Trimble, etc.), GPS equipment, and CAD/digital engineering tools.

Education & Certifications:

HNC/HND or BEng in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

Valid CSCS card (Engineering / Supervisory).

SMSTS or SSSTS preferred.

Clearances: Due to the regulated nature of the facility, candidates must be eligible to obtain baseline security clearance (BPSS) or hold existing site clearance.
