Quantity Surveyor / Estimator
Salary - £55,000 to £70,000
Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire
Full-time, permanent
Up Front Recruitment is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator for an established construction contractor. This role would suit someone with experience in fit-out, refurbishment or main contracting who enjoys both estimating and managing project costs.

About the role
The Quantity Surveyor / Estimator will support tender preparation and the commercial management of projects, working closely with the delivery team.
Responsibilities will include:

Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents.

Preparing estimates, take-offs and cost breakdowns.

Obtaining and comparing subcontractor and supplier quotations.

Supporting procurement and agreeing subcontract packages.
*
Preparing valuations and assessing variations.
*
Monitoring project costs and reporting against budgets.
*
Managing final accounts and identifying commercial risks.
Candidate background
The role would suit someone with quantity surveying and estimating experience within construction. Fit-out and refurbishment experience would be particularly useful, especially where projects involve several trades and work within existing buildings.
You’ll need to understand drawings and specifications, produce accurate cost information and communicate clearly with clients, subcontractors and project teams. A practical understanding of how work is delivered on site will also help.
